In the parish records of Kilkeevin, which include<br>the town of Castlerea, there are the following<br>entries. Between 1804 and 1809 - the entries are<br>in Latin and crammed together - Patrick McDermott<br>and Mary Swanwick had a son Pat and a daughter Bridget.<br>John Swanwick was a shoemaker in Castlerea in the 1820s,<br>according to Pigot's Directory. There were Swanwicks<br>living in Castlerea when I was growing up there in the<br>1960s.
