My g-g-grandfather, John Gaffney, left port of Sligo in abt May 1840 and settled in City of Sorel, Quebec, Canada. Census records from 1860 show him, age 62 and wife, Cecilia Gibbons, age 45, with 5 children in Columbia County, Wisconsin. I am trying to locate the place of origin for this family. If you have any thoughts on this matter I'd appreciate help.
