Hello, <br> My name is Turlough Whelan, I am a native of Aughavas, my father Michael Whelan was the National school teacher there for almost 40 years, he is <br>retired now. Since his retirement he has written a book called "The Parish of Aughavas, Co Leitrim - Its History and its People". <p> This details the parish of Aughavs from early prehistoric times, right up through the famine, to the present day. Having recently read Michael Whelan's book, I can heartily recommend it. It is well written in every respect, readable, and obviously carefully researched. I found it immensely informative, and, with ancestors having come from Co. Leitrim, I consider it one my most valuable reference works on Leitrim history.<p>Bob Owens<br>
