New city in the West of Ireland !!!!

I see the Irish government is going to build a new city in the West of Ireland on the border of Mayo and Roscommon.They plan to put a "Silicon Valley" around this city which would take in counties Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo, leitrim and north Galway, the city is being built close to Knock International airport. They want to "alleviate the chronic congestion in Dublin city and stop the population drain from the West of Ireland".It looks like a sensible thing to do. They have a web-site for the new city http://www.newcityforthewest.com<br>Its a pretty cool site and tells you everything about whats going on.<br>Maybe the west is finally getting its fair share of national funds and development.<br>

My understanding of this from newspaper accounts is that the proposal to build a new city is just one man's idea. I think he was quoted in the papers as saying he'll give up on Ireland and return to the USA if the new city idea doesn't catch on.<p>
