I have accessed the bulletin board tonight and found some interesting messages - particularly three! I have tried to make contact but the email addresses are retunring not deliverable.
One of the messages mentioned Edward Sharkey born 1814 in Boyle. I feel that this could be a brother of the gggrandfather I am looking for. His name was John Sharkey and he was a farmer. He had a son Michael born in 1828 ish. I have tried to get research done but my informant says there was only a John Sharkett who married Elenor(?) Ellen who had a son Michael. I think this was the Mike who was shipped to Australia so cannot be the link. I also think Jim Hession who posted the note who refers to two ladies going to Chesterfield are the two who happened to go into a church doing research and met my cousin Evelyn Sharkey who I had met for the first time (97 years of age) two years ago who a priest happened to mention having known years ealrier. I met the priest during an interview when we were appointing staff. What a spooky coincidence when she phoned me and told me of the two visitors to the church. My sister has since met them! So from knowing nothing about the family three years ago we have a wealth of info but not the Boyle links. I do know that there is also a link with Patrick Sharkey who went to the USA in the 1700s. He had relatives and sons called John and James and also a William who became a Judge. I cannot find where they came from but I was told that they were cousins way back. Any help with early Sharkeys would be appreciated.

Re: Sharkey/Reilly/Noon/Hessioin
I'm not sure if any of this info has anything to do with who you are looking for but one of my ancestors is John Sharkey who married Catherine Cunningham. They had a daughter, Bridgette Sharkey who was born Feb 1, 1835 in County Roscommon. I do not know John and Catherine's dates or info on any other children.
If you find anything relating to this, could you please let me know?
Thanks,
Debbie
