Re: DUIGNAN/DEGNAN/DIGNAN/DEIGNAN-web page
To Siobhan: I have just started trying to find out the history of my father's family. He was James Martin Degnan born in Wilkes Barre, Pa to Martin Degnan and Margaret Meehan Degnan in 1901..My grandfather, Martin was killed in a mining accident and left 9 children, one of which was my father. I only know that my grandfather, Martin was probably born in the US and had brothers, Hugh,John, Laurence,Lizzie, and two other sisters but I don't have their names. My paternal grandmother Margaret was born in Ireland but went to Scotland during the potato famine and then the family immigrated to the US where she met and married my grandfather Martin. All of the children are dead now, but there are many cousins in the New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania areas of the US. Would like to hear from you and see if there is any more information we can find out. Thanks, Mary<p>
