Interested in the other Cootehall family of Horan mentioned in a December posting, I'm sending the following on our own connections there. <br>John Horan of Drumsillagh, Cootehall, and Mary Gaffney of Derrygraw, Cootehall, were rearing children at Scrabagh, Kilclare, Co. Leitrim druing the 1870s/80s : <p>B1. James, married a Derry woman, returned to the States & is buried in Bridgeport, Conn. <br>B2. John d. young 1902, buried in Kiltubrid, Co. Leitrim. <br>B3. Michael d. young 1920, b. in Kiltubrid. <br>B4. Tom b. 1874, m. Rose Jordan 1916, b. in Sligo 1945. <br>B5. Pat m. Mary Anne Duignan, b. Kiltubrid 1952.<br>B6. Teresa m. Tom Begley, b. Kiltubrid. <p>The fathers of John and Mary from Cootehall were James Horan at Drumsillagh and David Gaffney at Derrygraw. Both are in the Griffith, if I remember correctly. The last of the Gaffney men in Derrygraw died c. 1935 and the land went with the female line. (< Info from Tom Moran, a neighbour in Derrygraw 1994) Some of James Horan's children at Drumsillagh were : <p>A1. John b. 1832/3, m. Mary Gaffney, buried Kiltubrid (Leitrim) 1918.<br>A2. James murdered in California c. 1890s. <br>A3. Mary m. ..... Glancy<br>A4. Michael m. Mary .., see family in Drumsillagh 1901, b. in Ardcarn.<br>A5, A6 ...... and others, seven sons in all. <p>Luke Horan, one of the seven sons of Michael and Mary (@ A4) moved to Hartley House for some time, all of the family leaving for the States c. 1940. One of Luke's seven sons, Brendan Horan from the Bronx, has kept some contact with Cootehall down through the years, although I haven't met him. The present writer is a grt.grt.grandson of John and Mary (at A1). <br>
