My great uncle Patrick McGarry and my grandfather Francis McGarry came to New Haven around 1802,1803; they were from Clooncarn; Pat eventually joined the Christian Brothers, and Frank opened a Grocery store and meat market at the corner of Bristol St. and Ashmun St. in New Haven.
My grandmother Bridget Malloy was the daughter of James Molloy and Margaret McGarry, also of the same townland.

My GGparents Patrick Gillen/Geelan and Annie Conr(o)y. He came over around 1888 and she came over around 1990 both to New Haven where they met and married. Annie was from Furnace (Annaduff). Patrick was reported to come from Leitrim but was definitely born in Longford.

Harveys and Fords in New Haven

Thank you for noting the Harveys of Oghill, Mohill who came to new Haven. Catherine Harvey married Bernard Ford from Mucros in New Haven in 1888 or 89. Bernard was known in Mucros as one of the "sacred Heart Uncles" because they all worked for the railroad and lived within walking distance in Sacred Heart Parish.
Bernard,s brothers who came to New Haven include Frank Felix, Thomas Henry, Patrick Francis and William Ford. We believe brother Joseph was in New Haven for some time, but he disappears. James inherited the farm in Mucros, and brother Charles married and moved to Derrinkip. Sister Ellen Ford also went to New Haven and married Catherinr Harvey's brother Daniel. We do not know what happened to Ann Ford and Elizabeth Jane Ford, who complete the family of 11 children. They were born first and may have died as children. I am the granddaughter of Bernard and Catherine Harvey Ford.
