In the course of researching my family roots in the town of Boyle, Co. Roscommon, I have seen several references to members of the Dyer family. Hope this small piece of information is relevant and of help.

I have an Owen and Thomas Dyer (ages 40 and 54 respectively) from the 1881 British Census for Acton Burnell, Shropshire, England listed as "laborers" whom I have good reason to believe came out Cloonfad, Frenchpark Castlerea, Roscommon County, Ireland. 1857 Griffiths references an Owen Dyer who shared leased land with my Sharkey ancestors. Maybe something for Melanie to look into further.
