I am trying to trace the family of my gggrandfather John Greene and his sister Anne who were sentenced to transportation in June 1835 to Australia for stealing wool. I have most of the family of John, in Australia but would like to know more of their life in Ireland, especially of any siblings left. John was born about 1815 and his sister 1816. John gave his fathers name as Michael occupation Publican, his mother's name Mary. Would appreciate how or where to start looking with this very little information I have.

I suggest you look at Australian marriage records (both Civil and church) for John and Anne. Then look at Civil birth registration and baptism of their children in Australia. With luck you will find the townland or parish in Co. Roscommon.
The Co. Roscommon c1830 Tithe Applotment records include the following persons named "Green":
Surname Civil parish Barony
Greein Lissonuffy Roscommon
Green Kilmeane Athlone
Green Kilmore Ballintober N
Green Termonbarry Ballintober N
Green Cloontuskert Ballintober S
Green Cloonygormican Ballymoe
Green Ballintober Castlereagh
Green Killukin Roscommon
Greene Cam Athlone
Greene Kiltoom Athlone
Greene Kilglass Ballintober N
Greene Kilkeevin Castlereagh
Greene Kiltullagh Castlereagh
Greene Tibohine Frenchpark
Greene Bumlin Roscommon
Greene Cloonfinlough Roscommon

Greenly Ballintober Castlereagh
Grehan Rahara Athlone
Grehan Cloonygormican Ballymoe

Grien Elphin Roscommon
Griffith’s Valuation c1850 does not list a publican named Green.
