Floyd/McWeeny/Beirne

My great grandmother was Rose FLOYD born ca 1851-1853 (no birth/baptismal record). She was the daughter of Robert FLOYD and Mary MCWEENY who were married 7 February 1846 in Kiltoghert parish. Rose had a sister, Anne (born 22 March 1847 in Drumcromane-spelling?). The two sisters immigrated to St. Louis, Missouri USA in the 1870s-not necessarily together.

Rose's mother died 15 December 1853 in Kiltubrid parish and Robert married Ann BEIRNE in Kiltubrid parish on 19 June 1859. Rose had two 1/2 sisters, Elizabeth (Lizzie) born about September 1861 and Mary born about February 1873. Lizzie came to the US (St. Louis Missouri) about 1884-85 and Mary came about 10 years later.

In 1912 Lizzie returned from a trip to Ireland having visited her sister. Unfortunately, I cannot read the name of the sister nor the place where she lived. The sister's last name appears to start with McG.

There is a baptismal record for a Thomas FLOYD, son of Robert FLOYD and Anne BEIRNE dated 28 August 1859. A Thomas Floyd who is 41 years old appears on the 1901 census for Drumcromaun, Kiltubbrid, Co. Leitrim and is married to Annie (age 29) and has the following children: Charles, age 6, Robert, age 2 and Thomas 11 months. I am guessing that these two are the same person since there are not many Floyds in the area, the age agrees and one of the children is named Robert, most likely after Thomas' father.

Do any of these names connect with your family? Would like to hear from you.
