I'm hopping to find descendents of Patrick & Bridget Fallon (nee Muloley) My father, Jeremiah was one of their childdren, along with 2 sisters, Anne & Bridget. They lived in currough very close to the Cloontuskert cemetary in Roscommon. My son visited this region and the cemetary and believes he found his ggrandfather Patrick Fallons grave marker and their family home which appears to be deserted at this time. I am most anxious to find out who the owner of this property is at the present time....or info on how I can secure this info. My father was born in 1893 and migrated to the USA in 1923 from Manchester UK. There is a very strong possibility that my grandfather Patrick had a second family and that there are "half" brother/sister relatives. Any info on how I can begin a search would be gratefully appreciated.

Bernie

My grandmother was born in Gortgallen - adjacent to Cloontuskert. She was a Beirne but had Mullooley and Fallon relations from this area. I would be most interested to correspond with you as I also have relations who went from this area to Manchester at the time you mentioned.

I don't believe I am connected directly, but for others who may read this in the future....

My Grandfather was Michael Joseph Fallon, born about 1893 in the townland of Kitrustan, between Strokestown and Elphin. He was married to Kate Kelly, sister of Michael and, I think, John. He originally owned what was then a small quarry and some land butting up to the northern edge of Kiltrustan cemetary. The quarry was sold after his death (to a Neary, I believe, who sold it to the Hanley's). Michael Fallon's father was Owen (also known as Eugene). His sons were Michael Joseph (Mick) Fallon and Bernard Joseph (Bernie Joe or Brian) Fallon, both of whom left for England. His grandather appears to have been Bernard Fallon, born to a Michael Fallon in Lissonuffy.

I've not been on this site for a couple of years, but here's a bit more detail from an earlier post I made back then:

__

Michael Fallon married Catherine McCormack in Lissonuffy around 1831. He had a son, Michael, there in 1832. They seem to have moved to down the road to Kiltrustan parish as they had a son called Bernard christened there in May 1846.

My father dimly remembers being told that the family had lived somewhere in Lissonuffy parish before moving to Kiltrustan. He said the old house was supposed to be there still. Maybe some of the family (elder brothers?) stayed there as he seems to have moved sometime after marrying Catherine.

A long line of Michael Joseph Fallon’s and Bernard’s (Bernie Joe’s) followed in Kiltrustan. There was an Owen Fallon as well as many daughters (inc Margaret, Delia, Kate) . It’s said my great Grandfather and 2 brothers of his fled for the US (Boston & Canada? Dates not known). Has anyone heard a story about black and tans chasing 2 hedge school masters over Cregga Hills way back when? 2 uncles of my grandfather set alight to the gorse on the hills and made their escape to the US.

My grandfather, Michael Joseph (born c.1892) owned the quarry at Laragan (opposite the old school) in Kiltrustan until 1954, when he died and the land was sold. He had been a Captain the Flying Column and had lost a leg in the wars.

I have found a couple of transplantation records of Fallon’s who were moved to land by Cregga Hill in c.1620. Maybe this land was in the parish known as Lissonuffy? It would be great to find out if there is any info on Fallon’s in Lissonuffy so that I can figure out what townland we were in there and if any of the Fallon’s remain there. The Kiltrustan branch I belong to have all died or gone abroad….

Hi, My grandmother had a sister, Delia. This is all I know:

Delia Cunniffe, daughter of Thomas Cunniffe and Catherine Brennan, (1874-19??) married Patrick Fallon, Ballyroe, Kilconly, in Carranthomas. They had 3 children: Patrick, Michael, and Tommy.

Does any of this sound familiar?

Thank you.

Hello members of Fallon clan. On the 1901 Census, on this site, we found the following: A Patrick Padian, widower, 70, of Curdrummin, Bumlin, co. Roscommon, living in the house were - a James Padian (35) and Lizzie Fallon age 12 gd. (granddaughter) and Patrick Fallon age 10 gs(grandson). We don't know if this is of any help.
