I have been researching these names for a few years. We visited Co Leitrim last September, and took several photos of grave stones.
Would like to contact other folks researching these names, especially those whose ancestors emigrated to Rhode Island between 1850-1950.
My Caffertys were from Miskaun in Aughnasheelin from about 1820-1920. Three children of Charles and Mary Creamer Cafferty remained in Co Leitrim, seven emigrated to Rhode Island before the turn of the century (1900). Andrew Cafferty, Margaret Cafferty and Catherine Cafferty stayed. Catherine married Francis O'Reilly, Margaret married Francis McWeeney and Andrew married Mary Kiernan.
The O'Brien family still lives in Co Leitrim, and can be traced back as far as 1800. In the generation just after the Great Famine, all but one son of Thomas and Mary O'Farrell O'Brien emigrated to Rhode Island, six in all.
My husband's great grandparents also came to RI before 1876. William Moran, son of Hugh and Elizabeth. He married Bridget Conway in Providence, Rhode Island in 1876. William was born about 1830. Looking for possible family members in Co Leitrim.
