I have a Michael McHugh b. abt 1870 in Leitrim, married in 1898 Katherine Bohan b. abt 1880 - lived on Elm St in New Haven in 1930 with their daughters, Katherine b. abt 1896 and Elizabeth b. abt 1906

living in the household at that time was Brother in Law Patrick Bohan b. abt 1885

I am related to a Catherine, Elizabeth and Patrick Bohan born around the same time as you posted. They are the children of Bernard and Catherine Bohan. I'm not sure if there is any connection here because I think that Elizabeth and Rose were the only children who came to New Haven and that the Catherine in my family remained in Ireland. I could be wrong though.

I was not unusual to go to America for a few years and then return to Ireland to marry and then to remain there. It would not be impossible therefore for these to be your people.

Mark I think we may have a Bohan connection here..my mother well remembers the Bohans with a bar on cassius street in New Haven, and the Priors you've mentioned in another thread.

I just found a Farrell connection (Michael McHugh's mother was a Farrell) to the Crowleys from New Haven, and am hoping i gain some more information through that.

I know that the Catherine Bohan to which I refer, definitely lived in New Haven. My mother remembers her and her daughters, catherine and elizabeth coming to her house to have their hair done by my grandmother and great aunts.

I forgot to mention in my earlier post that the Degnans too are a familiar name to my mother.

Michael McHugh's neice and newphew (Mary Agnes Dempsey b.1902 and John Patrick McHugh b.1907) owned a bar in the 50's in Branford, CT aptly named "Dempsey & McHugh's" it was the former K9 Club. John was my grandfather.
