Leitrim-Roscommon

A very dear friend and epal is trying to find Mohrergregg, Drumshanbo, county Lietrim for me and an old cemetery nearby. She has offered to look for my ancestors graves, but we need help in finding this townland. Can anyone help?? Thanks so much. My ancestors were:
THOMAS MCGOVERN b. 1830 in Ireland, d. 22 Jul 1896 in Mohrergregg, Drumshanbo, Lietrim Ireland. Married MARGARET MCCORMICK 05 Mar 1867 in Kiltubrid, Drumshanbo, Lietrim Ireland. MARGARET MCCORMICK b. in Aghaginny,Kiltubbrid, Lietrim, Ireland, d. 20 Jan 1912 in Aghaginny. Dgtr JANE MCGOVERN b. 02 Jul 1870 in Mohrergregg, Drumshanbo, Lietrim Ireland. She married JAMES NUGENT b. 1860 in Ireland. They lived in Drumshanbo, Lietrim and had 4 sons-Henry, Thomas, Edward and James. My grandfather Henry Nugent b. 29 Jan 1896....One more question: does townland of Aghaginny in Kiltubbrid still exist and what cemetery is nearby? Thanks again for your help.

I finally found Moher(Gregg) in KIltubbrid parish in the 1901 census. I searched for McGovern and there it was.

Aghaginny is right there too. And they are on both sides of Aghakilbrack townland. Moher (gregg) is just written as Moher.

If you go to the Leitrim-Roscommon Map page on this site and scroll down to the very bottom, you will find Civil Parish maps. Click on Kiltubbrid and then go to the list of townlands to find the numbers that you are looking for. In your case they are 3,4,65. You will find them up at the very top of the parish and on the Kiltoghert parish border.

When you look at the birth records on LDS, you may find that they state Drumshanbo for many of your families. It took me a while to figure out how they worked. And I hope I have it right.

Drumshanbo, Leitrim, Jamestown for instance are smaller registrar's districts within the main registrar's district for this area which is Carrick-on-Shannon. Drumshanbo appears to be the one that is the farthest north and covers part of Kiltoghert and Kiltubbrid parishes going west to east. Next to the south is Leitrim and finally Jamestown, all going from west to east.

From 1864 on births had to be registered and depending on which townland you were from would determine where you went to register the birth. So, if you were a Nugent from Aghakilbrack townland in KIltubbrid parish, you would go to the village of Drumshanbo. The location at the top of the form would show as Drumshanbo (and also Carrick-on-Shannon) although the actual townland of residence would be listed on each individual line. There are ten births listed per page and they are all for the same registrar's district but the townlands can all be different.

This looks like it is as clear as mud but maybe you get the idea.
