Once again Ed Gaffney has shown his great skill in finding LDS records.

The first entry on Ed’s list reads:
"TYMON, Margaret Birth
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 10 Jun 1868 Birthplace: 184, Frenchpark, Ros, Ire
Recorded in: Roscommon, Ireland
Collection: Civil Registration
Father: Michael TYMON
Mother: Mary MC DERMOTT
Source: FHL Film 101168 Dates: 1868 – 1869."

To ascertain the birth townland and father’s occupation, look at page 184 of the original register on LDS film number 101168.

In the original posting, Wright stated:
“….The children were possibly all born in Frenchpark, Roscommon”.

In fact the births were registered at the Frenchpark Registrar’s District office.

Registrar’s Districts are a division of Poor Law Unions and the area of responsibily is not based on Civil parish boundaries.

Frenchpark Registrar’s District comprises parts of the following Civil parishes.

My thanks to Ed and John for their swift replies.
I have found out that my gggrandfather Michael Sr. had a farm in Tibohine according to the 1901 Census.

Many thanks

Thank you, John, for the information regarding townlands and civil parishes in the Frenchpark Registrar District. Do you happen to know if the numbers referred to, for example, "Frenchpark 172" mean anything? Might they be links to a specific civil parish or townland?

Jackie,
The locality listed in the FHL International Genealogical Index (IGI) and the 2001 FHL British Isles Vital Records Index second edition (BIVRI) CD is the Registrar's District. It may not be the actual birthplace/place of marriage.

“Frenchpark 172” means that the Civil birth or marriage was registered in Frenchpark Registrar’s District. The entry is on page 172 of the actual register. You can examine the LDS film of the actual register at most large Public Libraries and Family History Societies, as well as LDS Family History Libraries.
