Nurse Beirne Boyle and Ballymote

My grandmother, Margaret Beirne, nee Priest at Knockroe near Boyle, moved to Teeling Street in Ballymote in around 1927 having trained as a midwife following the death of her second husband Thomas Beirne in Februay 1925 in Knockarush near Boyle.

She worked as a midwife until around 1950 travelling around the locality on a big tricycyle. She joined her daughter Una in New York where she died in 1957.
