I just started researching my ancestors and have found some great information. My first search was to locate my Great Grandparent William and Catherine Clancy in the townland of Uragh, Rossinver Parish in Co. Leitrim. The 1901 census had listed their children. William(17)-Daniel(15)-Margaret Anne(12)-John(10)-Bernard(6)-Hugh(3). Hugh is my Grandfather. I was also able to locate my great Grandfather William's Brother Hugh who was married to Catherine and found their children also. Catherine(37) wife/seamstress-Peter(38) brother/farmer-John(9)-Catherine(7)-James(5)-Hugh(3)-Peter(6mo.) I am now looking for some other family and can't find them listed. There were two sisters Zita and Lillian Clancy. If anyone can help me find any information on any of the above listed family members, it would help me with my family tree. I just don't know where else to look for birth records, marriage records, or even where my great grandparents were buried.

If there are any family members out there. Feel free to contact me.

Hi Liz,
There are some tricks you can use on the 1901 census to finding missing folks such as looking for them in the "other persons in household category" (where the head of household is not a Clancy) and to also look in other parishes (my mom was from Inishmagrath but was sent to work in Mohill and her sister in Killargue).
The best place to look for missing relatives is in Scotland because so many Leitrim folks went back and forth there to work, often with some of their children. (Again, in my family a bizarre mixture of folks from three generations are in the 1901 Irish cenus but the rest of them were in Edinburgh).
Did the 2 in question immigrate before the rest ?
I just did a quick check of the census and there are only 4 Lillians (one L) listed, 3 are almost most certainly protestant and one might be. It's not a name that fits in neatly with the other names in your family. Zita doesn't either. Are you sure they were born in Ireland ?
Good Luck,
Sharon
