Can anyone clarify which county Aghanagh Parish belongs? Is it Sligo or Roscommon or does it straddle both counties?

Aghanagh Civil parish and Aghanagh Catholic parish parish do not have the same boundaries.

Catholic records list Baptisms and Catholic church marriages; all other records are listed in Civil parishes.

Thanks for the clarification on this parish. I have a Matthew McKeon born in Roscommon 1800. He moved to Scotland where he married Mary Welsh/Walsh, also from Roscommon at the pretty late age of 46 in 1846. His parents were Bartholomew McKeon and Bridget Mulhern. Attempts to find more about this family and their location in Roscommon turned up the marriage in 1819 of a Bartholomew McKeon and Honor Gallagher in Boyle, Roscommon, and in 1844, of Bartholomew McKeon and Mary Ann Mulhern in Aghanagh, Sligo. I don’t know how common these names were, or indeed if there is any connection, but their close proximity to each other has given me some sort of a lead.
