Tarmon, Castlerea - Reynolds - Castlerea Library

Post by JimReynolds »

I've found a reference to Tarmon in some old records for my GG Grandfather, George Reynolds. It appears he acted as surety for a loan to Thomas Copley, a schoolteacher, then living in Ardass. The loan was written off in 1851 because Mr. Copley was in middling circumstances and George Reynolds had died. (He died in 1848.) His son James died in 1868 and also had a reference to Tarmon.

It appears Tarmon was the common name for the townland of Termon More.

The Castlerea library has a reference to a collection of old papers labelled Tarmon, Castlerea. Does anyone know what is included in these papers? How can I find out?
