McDermotts of Pollymount

Post by Ellen Capps »

I will be visiting Ireland this May and would like to visit Pollymount. I'm not able to locate this town on any of the maps for the Strokestown area. Can anyone tell me where this town was once located. The McDermotts were still listed in Pollymount on the 1901 Census. My branch left in the early part of 1840 and settled in Wisconsin and Nebraska. Any information would be helpful, I would really like to see that area while visiting.

Look in the Phone book, also here, and you'll find two residences in that Townland. Also, two McDermott's in/near Scramogue. Both are on the North side of the Strokestown - Longford road; the road sign points to Scramogue.
