I know my family were at Redbrae in 1901 as my g-grandfathers details are on the census, his name James. But I don't know his fathers name. James eldest son was James and his second son was called William. Would that indicate that m g-g-grandfather was William? if anyone recognises these names and can help me even with a little info I would be very grateful! Of course there are other sons!

Have been very busy recently what with going to ireland and other stuff going on. I've only just read your message. Wow, thanks a million, this is going to push me forward on my research! I knew about g-g-g-grandmother Ellen being at Redbrae who I presume is James mother. But I didn't know that Alice was my g-g-grandmother. This is so interesting. Oh, by the way I did get confused The names I mentioned as sons of James are in actual fact his grandsons, i.e. William, James, Stephen and Robert. They were my uncles. William & James went to USA before my mother was born, sadly Mummy never met William but she did meet James when he came back to Ireland in the 60's. The Pyes are a very intriging family who originally came from Herefordshire. I have been trying to find the link from there to Ireland for about 4 yrs now. Its all connected with the English Civil War and Cromwell, and some of the english relatives as well. I'll get there in the end!! Thanks for your much appreciated help again.

Hello Ed I am very grateful for your time checking the records.However I now realise that the people you have mentioned are the Pye's from Kinlough, not the Pye's from Redbrae. It does get quite confusing. The Kinlough Pye's are relatives of mine but they are not the line I'm studying. One of them is my mothers 1st cousin, so that indicates they were very closely related to the Redbrae Pyes. What has made me think this is, when I looked for info only the Redbrae Pyes 'popped up ' my g-g grandfather is a widower, and theres no mention of Alice McCormack, in Redbrae. She's not on the 1901 census for Kinlough either, as James Pye is married to Matilda. Now I'm totally confused as to where this information has been found about the person called Alice!
