The family lived in Quarter Village near Hamilton in Scotland . Avondale is the general area around the river Avon
in Lanarkshire - the Avon is a Tributary of the Clyde and Quarter is on the banks of the Avon .My Grandmother married my grandfather
Patrick Gaffney in Scotland but my grandfather emigrated from the Keadue in Roscommon .The Campbell and Gaffney families knew each other
in Ireland - that's how my grandfather and grandmother met. My Gaffney ancestors of the 1800's all were born in the Keadue area and
their baptisms are recorded in Kilronan - I believe Coothall is a parish area for Kilronan.
Ed. Gaffney

Re: Patrick Gallagher and Ann Campbell
My gg.grandmother was Bridget Campbell who married Thomas McGlynn. They were in Avondale also(Strathaven, Lanarkshire). Most census show the 2 families (McGlynn & Gallagher) fairly close to each other. I believe Ann and Bridget to be sisters. Both have father recorded as Patrick Campbell and mother Ann. I haven't been able to establish mother's m.s. due to quality of the writing. Bridget's place of origin is Cleaheen Roscommon.
