Advice needed...Recently I noticed that the LDS web site (International Genealogical Index)includes christening information for my grandfather's two sisters. They indicate that they were christened in the 1840's in RC Killucan and Ballinameen, Roscommon. When I checked their source, the following was indicated: "Parochial registers 1811-1881, Catholic Church. Parish Church of Killukin (near Kilcooley)."
I would like to write to the RC Church to confirm the information because my grandfather and his brother were also christened in the same place. Where would I write? What is the name of the church? Would the chruch be out in the country or in Kilcooley? Any information will be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you.
When all else fails just address the inquiry to the Roman Catholic Church in Killukin and enclose a stamped return envelope with a request for the names of the Catholic churches in the area. I would strongly advise against your asking for any records immediately. They are far too busy to do any kind of general research. However, I also suggest that you go to the LDS website and pull up the catalog. Look for Roscommon County. Get the listings of places in Roscommon. Go to Killukin. Go to the church records. They will name the churches. You can order from LDS the films you want to view that have baptisms, marriages, etc. They cost here in NJ $3.25 to rent for about three weeks. You view them in the LDS genealogy room using a very great magnifier. If your center does not have the high magnifier then find the nearrest LDS center that does and rent your film from there. Happy hunting and the best of luck. Catherine
