Son Patrick said he was from Roscommon but Son John said he was from Leitrim. Both were in the East Lothian part of Scotland at least by the late 1850's when John married Elizabeth McWilliams. By 1868 Patrick, my grandfather was in NYC,NY,USA. In the eaarly 1880's he married Maggie Daly. Their married life was in NJ, USA. I suspect they were from the Carrick on Shannon area on perhaps both sides of the Shannon. Do they show up in anyone's family tree? My grandfather Patrick was born we think between 1840 and 1850. The records vary. Thank you. Catherine

However, my grandfather Patrick came to the states with one brother(my mother told me). They separated in either NYC or Jersey City and it was said that Patrick's brother "went up Chatham way" ( a small town then in New Jersey). It seems that they did not contact each other again. Unless I can find an Ireland place of origin, and check the family first names with those that went to Scotland, I can not begin to hazard a guess as to where the other family members went. (Maybe England, Canada, or some later to Massachusetts USA to join their cousins.)We keep trying. Best of wishes.Catherine
