Searching for more information on my immigrant<br>ancestors: John Cassidy b. circa 1832/1834 Co<br>Roscommon. He married Mary Brigid Byrne; b.circa <br>1833,we don't know for sure in which County she was<br>born; they married in circa 1854/1857 (do not know<br>whether they married in IRL or USA). They had nine<br>children (per the 1900 USA Federal Census),<br>we can only account for three of them. The oldest,<br>as far as we know, Anna was born circa 1858 in<br>Connecticut, USA. The family moved to Freedom Township,<br>LaSalle Co., IL where their son Thomas was born in<br>1859.The family then settled into Sunbury Township,<br>Livingston Co.,where the third child, Michael was born<br>in 1860. They were Catholic farmers.<br>We have what we feel is strong evidence that John's<br>parents are Francis Cassidy and Brigid (Flanagan)<br>Cassidy who were married at Strokestown May 30, 1833.<br>Francis and Brigid had three children we are aware of:<br>Thomas who was baptized Aug 22, 1846 at Strokestown<br>and married Mary Brennan Jan 30,1873 at Strokestown; <br>John who we believe to be OUR John (but not really<br>sure); and a Francis who we think we have pegged and<br>married a Fallon here in America and lived in<br>Iroquois Co., IL.<br>I am hoping others will see this message and relate<br>to some of the information and we can exchange<br>our research. <br>rcahill@crtelco.com

My paternal grandmother's maiden name was Byrne. Her name was Ida Byrne. Her father's name was Gus Byrne. She had three brothers whose names I do not have. They grew up<br>in New Jersey. There are a lot of Byrnes in County Mayo. The village of Knock and the cemetery there has a lot of Byrne gravestones<p>Arleen Rooney<br>
