Thomas Gormly lived in Elphin, County Roscommon, Ireland. He was a land steward. He was married to Catherine (surname unknown). He had at least one child, Patrick. He took an active part in the Irish Rebellion of 1798. When the insurrection was suppressed, a squad of soldiers was observed at a distance approaching the family home. Two guns were hastely dragged along the bottom of a ditch by one of the children and cast into a pond that contained deep water. When the soldiers searched the house and found no implements of warfare, they refrained from burning the premises or molesting the residents who were women and children. Their son Patrick b. c1798 married Mary A Docray b. c1804. She was the daughter of Darby Docray and Mary (surname unknown). Darby Docray was a yarn merchant.<p>Any information about any of these people would be most appreciated.
