Besides
being available from the GRO in Dublin, Ireland, these records are also
available to you through your local Family History Center. Marriage
records that are recorded in the GRO are amongst the easiest ones to find,
as both the Bride and the Groom are listed in the GRO Marriage Index.
The biggest task you will have will be in recording ALL the Thomas Kennedys
that were married between the time period that you are interested in.
Additionally, you will need to record the volume and page number as well.
You then have to look up Anne McGreevys for the same time period and find
the one that matches one of your entries for Thomas in the same year and
in the same volume and page number. You then order that record, or in the
case of the FHC, you order the microfilm that covers that specific set
of records that contains your marriage document. It is somewhat time
consuming, however the marriage documents are one of the few where you
can usually obtain the record with a minimal amount of information as a
starter. The worst case scenario would be that you found more than one
Thomas Kennedy and Anne McGreevy, but even here, the chances of you finding
more than two or three is very low. In this case you would have to obtain
a record for each in order to determine which one was yours. The assumption
here, of course, is that there would be some additional information
contained in the marriage record that would identify your Thomas and Anne,
such as their place of residence or their father's name.
Good luck with your research.
Ed Finn
