Flynn/McPartland

Post by Kathleen Trotta »

Here's my yearly message! My grandmother was Catherine Flynn from Altavra, Drumkeerin, Co. Leitrim. She was born in July of 1884. Her parents were Hugh Flynn (of Altavra) and Bessie McPartland of Derryvalanagher Glebe, Inishmagrath parish. My grandmother's siblings were - Mary, Ellen, John, Hugh, Margaret (who came to the U.S.), Anne (who came to the U.S.), Briget (Bea who came to the U. S.) Anne married a John Correstine from Leitrim, and Margaret married another "Flynn". My grandmother, Catherine Flynn married Luke Farrell from Co. Longford.
I just visited Drumkeerin a few weeks ago, and that's what made me want to post another message here.

McPartland/Heaney

Looking for information on my grandparents, my grandfather was
Michael Heaney he married Bridget McPartland, either in Leitrim or
Roscommon county Ireland. My dad James Joseph Heaney was born in
Castlerea (Roscommon County) April 30, 1913, he was the youngest of
4, he had 2 sisters, Sue and Mae and one brother Michael, the story
goes his mother passed away either when he was born or when he was
very young, his Dad took to drinking & the county took the kids away
to be raised by others, Aunt Sue & Mae came to the USA and settled in
Chicago, Illinois in the eary 30's, his Aunt Alice who I believe
last name was McPartland sponsored him over here in the late 30's.
His brother Michael went to live in England. Would like to find out
more about the family. Thanks
My mother was Catherine Josephine Guihan and her father was James Guihan who married Mary Sweeney.Mary's father was Bartley and his wife was Anne Gallagher. Now I understand that one of them was related to Ellen and John McPartland who were brother and sister.I also think that John was a priest who built Drumkeerin Church. Not sure if this is of any help?
