McSherrys of Manorhamilton, Leitrim

Post by sue »

Looking for the family of siblings John, James, Patrick, Catherine and Mary McSherry - all alive in the 1840's and believed to be in the Drumlease Parish area. An older brother, Bernard McSherry emigrated to Canada in the 1830's and mentions his brothers and sisters in his 1844 will. Does anyone know of this family?

I notice in the National Archives of Ireland, Charles McSharry was sentenced to transportation for 7 years to Austrailia for stealing bread during famine year 1849. In 1847 Mat McSharry also of Leitrim Was sentenced for life charged with burglarly and feloney.<p>
