James Higgins/Bridget Farell Higgins

Post by Lynn Higgins »

I am in receipt of my great grandfather's, James Higgins, birth certificate and it lists his parents as James Higgins (coalminer) and Bridget Farell Higgins married November 5th, 1862 in Leitrim, Ireland. They must have immigrated to Scotland, as there son James was born in Franent July 21, 1871. I tried to obtain thir birth certificates to get more information on them i.e. birthdates, where they were born and parents names from the birth register, but I was informed they only provide records from 1864 onward. I would therefore have to get the information at the National Library in Dublin and hire a researcher to obtain record. I want to know if they had any other children, since they married in 1862 and my great grandfather was not born until 1871. Can anyone help. Thank you Lynn

Go to this address http://www.familysearch.com/ click SEARCH and type the names James Higgins and Bridget Farrell in the two boxes on the right of the screen. You should then see listed 5 of their children born in Tranent. Click on each name for more details.

: I am in receipt of my great grandfather's, James Higgins, birth certificate and it lists his parents as James Higgins (coalminer) and Bridget Farell Higgins married November 5th, 1862 in Leitrim, Ireland.
