I am searching for any reference to my GG-Grandparents. We are going to Ireland over Easter and I would love to make research on my fathers side part of the visit. I just don't know where to start. I have done a great deal of research on my mothers side both from here and in Dublin and Roscommon, but have not had any luck on my fathers side finding connections.<p>My GG-grandfather ANDREW MCDERMOTT (abt. 1801 - abt. 1899) married NANCY CARSON in Ireland (location unknown).<br>I know of eight children: <br>--- JOHN CARSON (1838-1909, I have more info. here)<br>--- NANCY (prob. married JOE CARSON)<br>--- MATTHEW (married, spouse unk.)<br>--- ANDREW (never married),<br>--- ISABELLA (married ANDREW HARPER), <br>--- HUGH C. (married MARGARET MCLEAN, I have more info. here), <br>--- ELIZABETH (married DONALD MCLEAN, I have more info here) <br>--- JOSEPH (married FANNIE FERRIS, settled in Manitoba, later moved to Winnipeg and started a general contracting business which his sons carried on). <br>Some of these children were born in Ireland.<br>Andrew, Nancy and (I assume all or most of) the family moved to the U.S. (prob. the South-West, TX or New Mexico Territory). At some point Nancy died and Andrew moved back to Canada. He remarried and had more family.
