Looking for info on Martin Tuohy bor either 1813-14 or 1822 married Mary McMahon. They came to the US before 1868 and settled in the District of Columbia or Maryland area. Their sons born in the US are JOhn, Hugh, Thomas, Michael. Their daughters are Katherine and Mary. Please I pray someone will recognize one of these,.

Tuohy McMahon
Re: Tuohy McMahon
Bonnie: I have looked over the marriages for St. Nathy's Cathedral in Ballaghaderreen, where there are lots of Toweys (who spelled the surname variously as Tuohy, Touhy, Tuoy, et al in the mid-19th Century) and did not find any Martin T. m. Mary McMahon from 1830 (when the records begin) through 1870. They might have resided in Kilmovee parish or Carracastle parish. You can check the available marriage registers for them in LDS microfilms 1279230 and 1279233 at any Family History Center affiliated with the LDS Church. Otherwise, the Tuohys are fairly well scattered around Co. Mayo (and elsewhere), as you can ascertain if you look at the Griffith Valuation Survey of the 1850s available on CD. The FHCs also have a wonderful national index of surnames from the 1880 census which might help you find the family's location in DCMaryland. They also have a microfilm from the National Archives which contains the index of passenger arrivals in Baltimore; don't know the film #, but I believe that it includes the years which interest you. Hope these suggestions are of some help.<br>
