Would anyone know anything about a family called DEVENISH
who apparently lived at a place or town called Mount Pleasant
- which I believe is near Strokestown? I'm searching for a John Devenish who was transported to Australia around 1840.... he was a Tailor by trade and married another Irish girl called Mary Scott, native place unknown... Is there a place or property called Mount Pleasant still in existence today?

One is a John Devenish who has a Susie (born in Australia) living in the household. Could be relations to the John Devenish you mention.

See Burke's 'The Landed Gentry of Ireland' (pages 232 & 233) for the genealogy of the Mountpleasant Devenish family.
Mike
