MULVEY/MULVEIGH Patrick

Post by Kath Crawley »

I have traced my Mulvey relatives back in Roscommon as far as Patrick Mulvey who died in 1871 age 80 years (approx). He spent most of his life at Moneyboy, Kilcooley, Co. Roscommon. He shows on the Griffiths valuation there, but I have been told he originally came from Cloone in Leitrim. Anybody any idea how I can proceed to find out any more about Patrick in Cloone - who he married, his siblings, parents etc.etc. or am I banging my head against a brick wall? Any advice or help greatly appreciated.

1901 Census gives you 11 Mulvey Families
I have information on James (40) brother Thomas
Wife Bridget (40) Reynolds married 1885
His father was Michael & mother Mary Gunshinan or Margaret Shannon
I have the info on his children

Hi James - thanks for your reply. I have the info from the 1901 census re the Mulvey family - its earlier info that I'm seeking. Patrick died in 1871 leaving 3 children (Michael, Martin and Mary-all of Moneyboy) who show on the census, but I can't find out anything about Patrick himself. He must have been born early 1800's or even late 1700's as he is stated as being 80 on his death cert (1871)which I have. He was a widower so no details of his wife show and I'm stuck as to where to go from here to find out who he married, where exactly he was born (I believe it is Cloone) and who his brothers/sisters (if any) were. His children were born before civil registration so no details at Joyce House, Dublin(which would have shown the mothers name). Parish registers have so far not helped me. thanks again, Kath Crawley
