Names of Catholic Churches

Post by John Hunter »

I am looking for the names and townlands of the Catholic churches in the County Roscommon Catholic parishes of Creagh and Moore.

Thank you

John,

The church in Creagh is named "Our Lady of Lourdes Church."
The church in Moore is named "St. Marys Church." I think, but I am not certain, that the townlands are Creagh and Moore, respectively. Note that Creagh, though originally in Co. Roscommon, is a suburb of the town of Ballinasloe, Co. Galway and, because of an extention to the Ballinasloe town bounderies, Creagh is now part of Co. Galway.
Best of luck with your researches.

Michael,
Thank you.

My records show two churches in Moore Catholic parish (in Cloonfad and Loughlackagh townlands).

John,

Sorry! I had forgotten that there are indeed two churches in Moore parish. The principal church is St. Mary's and it is in Loughlackagh townland, which directly adjoins Moore townland. The other church is the one in Cloonfad townland but I don't have a name for it.
