Abbey ruins in Frenchpark

Post by Margaret Morgan Weichert »

Does anyone know the history of the ruined Abbey in Frenchpark, Roscommon. My grandmother (Sarah Drury, b. 1904) grew up in Frenchpark and remembers the ruined Abbey with no glass in the windows. No one in her family knew the story of the Abbey, even though they had lived in Frenchpark for more than 2 generations.
Anyone know the story?

Only the ruins have survived for hundreds of years.
perhaps somone else can tell us more about its history.
John Higgins
