hi all
i have got back as far as i can with the murphys of ballaghaderreen with out leaving home
how do you trace foward?
my grandad came from a large family but we know very little about them i know some came to england and some to usa and that some stayed in ballaghaderreen

If I understand your post, you have good information about Ireland but lack information after the emigration. For what it's worth, our search for ancestors has started from the known locally and worked backwards. We have little to go by that connects us to Ireland more than generally. Birth & death records, military service records, baptismal records, marriage records have been the most useful tools. Some of these contain names and places that lead you on to other sources of information. One of my cousins has proven vey resourceful in making use of what's on the net. Visits to the local library to view the city directories from the last 130 years or so have produced much of interest. Best of luck!
