Have hit a dead end! Trying to find any information on my
ggrandfater, Michael Cassin left Roscommon 1883-1887.
Had family in Roscommon (teachers it is believed). He settled in
Providence RI, USA. He married Mary Giblin, had 3 children that lived, Mary, Thomas, Ellen. He died on 18 Feb 1895 at the age of 29. Any information would be great.

In reviewing the 1901 census records, I did not locate anyone with the surname Cassin in Co. Roscommon. I did locate 20 records for the surname Caslin. Any chance the name changed when Michael came to the States?

Don't be set on the spelling of a surname. Clerks wrote down what they heard.

Based on John Hunter's info below is a possible census record
for Michael's parents. Note the age of Patrick (30) reasonably matches the 1868 DOB for Patrick Caslin in the information John provided. Note Moyglass is the townland and Kilglass is the civil parish.
