Townlands

Post by Jim Rooney »

My grandfather was born in Tawnymoyle and using the Griffiths Valuation and then the 1901 Census records I can trace the occupier of the townland. How/ where can I move forward after 1901 to trace the occupiers.

Thank You

The Valuation Office in Dublin http://www.valoff.ie/ has the original Griffiths. As the occupier changed they hand wrote in the name with the date of the change on the margin. They used different color ink for each change but unless you go to the office, you will only see black and white on the copies. You can order copies from the site and it includes a map. There is a fee.
