I am looking for Hunt family members in Ireland who are descended from Thomas Roderick Hunt (b abt 1835) and Brigid McGrath (b abt 1845) who might be able to help me with our family history. Thomas, called Roddy, may have had a brother, Roger. Thomas and Brigid had ten children. Patrick, Bartholomew and Peter Charles (my grandfather) immigrated to the US. Peter Charles married Brigid Elizabeth Garrahan, originally of Four Mile House, in Brooklyn, NY in 1914. Siblings: Margaret m James Duignan; Delia m William Flynn; Joseph m Brigid Murphy and lived in Dublin. Other siblings: Brigid, Thomas and John.
I am most interested in learning more about John Hunt of Strokestown (b 5/21/1879 - d abt 1925). He may be the same John Hunt who was injured in a raid on the Bridewell Courthouse at Strokestown in 1920 during Ireland's War for Independence. How could I get verification?
Th census of 1901 was most helpful to me and I would like to know if I can access the census of 1911 via the web.
