Brehony/eny + Glynn

Post by Tub1945 »

Hallo! my Great Great Grandfather,Patrick Brehony/eny lived in Arigna. My Great Grandfather Patrick Brehony, lived in Arigna and married Margaret Glynn from Cootehall(father= Terence Glynn) in 1864. They had 6 children:- Thomas, Terence, Brigid, Eleanor, John(my Grandfather- born 1871) and Patrick.

John Brehony joined the RIC and moved to Co. cork. He married Annie Hayes.
(They lived in Dunmanway, Co Cork, from about 1909, until their deaths in the 1950's and 60's)

In Arigna they originally rented 2/3 acres, halfway up a hill outside Arigna, from Lord Tenneyson through the Arigna Coal Mining Co. Eventually Margaret Brehony bought about 23 acres. (This land is now owned by Mr. Guihan, who kindly showed us over it. Thankyou.)

I am looking for any information about any of the Brehony's and Glynn's. I believe their is a Gaffney involved in the Glynn family.

Ibelieve Brigid Brehony became a schoolteacher and may have ckanged her name to "Judge" and taught in the North East up near the border.

Any information greatfully received.

Thanks Tub1945

Hi,
I found these 2 items in some of my research papers and on the Latter Days Saints web site.

Patrick Breheny born 8/28/1836 to Patrick Breheny and looks like Sarah Gaffney. Also see a Margaret Glynn born 22 March 1844 Ardcam, Roscommon to Terenti Glynn and Bridgidae Mullany.

You may have these items already but just in case you did not I send them. See that the townland where Patrick and Margaret Breheny lived was Derrynavoogy. The Tithe Applotment records show a Patrick Breheny and a Connor Breheny living there then.

hope this helps,

Ann
