Scollon, Scollan, Scollin and Scally

Post by Raymond Scollin »

After many efforts to obtain information about my lineage from Ireland, I hit one wall after another. I was able to trace my mother's side to 1500's in England. But my Great-great grandfather came from County Leitrim around 1850s. I have commissioned assistance to no avail. Does anyone have any information regarding a Michael Scollon, married to a Mary Scally in Fenagh parish? To those still looking for theirs, God speed.

I have nothing to offer yet as I am at the very begining of tracing the Scally lineage. You can check in at my domain www.scally.com to track the progress.
I can tell you that there were Scallys in Farmingdale NY in the 1850's. I am gathering more information daily.

Stumbled on your note today. I am extremely ignorant about the family, but I understood that we were of Scottish disent? Let me know if I can be of any assistance.
: After many efforts to obtain information about my lineage from Ireland, I hit one wall after another. Our family are from Dundalk and apart from ourselves, know of no other Scollons in Ireland. I have heard of a professor Ron Scollon in Hong Kong, but have had no success in contacting him. If you are a Scollon, or you know of any, please e-mail me at the above address or alternatively, look us up in the Louth area phone book. Thank you.
I've just started looking into my family's history.
I believe the origin to be Irish, my Great Grandfather was born in 1887
in Richmond, Ontario, Canada. His name was Thomas Bower Scollon.
His father's name was William J., apparently Presbyterian

I have a cousin named Jim Scollin who lived at Arran Road in Drumcondre, a section of Dublin. Jim is now deceased but he also has a daughter, Noirin who I have met but have lost touch with her. There are other cousins in Ireland who spell their names Scollan, Scallon and like mine Scollin.
George F. Scollin
