My maternal grandfather was William Joseph Caldwell.
He had two brothers, one who spelled his name Coldwell
and one who spelled it Colwell. I don't know why
the difference. Their father, John B. Caldwell
(sorry, I called him Joseph in some other e-mails)
supposedly ran away from his abusive father in Ohio
and went to Iowa.

My grandfather Harry E. Colwell was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Reynoldsville. He had two brothers Everett and Ronald. I don't know much about Everett but I know that Ronald was a much decorated paratrooper in WWII and had a career in the military. He settled in California with his wife from Japan. He died in the late 1950's or early 1960's. I know he has children and I am interested in locating any family members,
Hi !
My name is John Paul Colwell . My father is William Barnes Colwell , his father was William Otre Colwell , his father was William Harlin Colwell , and his father my great - great grandfather was also William Barnes Colwell who was born in Georgia as William Barnes Caldwell . I know he had a brother in Georgia named George Caldwell this was probably Civil War era . My great-great grandfather came to Texas I believe before the Civil War. My great grandfather moved from east Texas to Oklahoma around 1906 . My dad came back to Texas when He came back from the Korean War in 1952 . My father, Bill is quite knowledgable on family history but would never get on a computer. He would be very happy to talk with you on our history . He can be reached at home (972)937-1754 or at our office (972)938-3830 He has told me our anncestors came to the USA after the American Revolution , in the late 1700's. I almost positive that the anncestor that came to the US also had my dad's name William B. Caldwell and that he came from Ireland but shipped out from Germany. Along the journey across the ocean he was married to I believe Dolly Caldwell.
I hope this helps please contact me back !
John Colwell
1611 Hill Ln.
Waxahachie , Texas 75165
972.923.0844 home
972.938.3830 Colwell OIl Company , Inc.
