My father is William Barnes Colwell , his father was William Otre Colwell , his father was William Harlin Colwell , and his father my great - great grandfather was also William Barnes Colwell who was born in Georgia as William Barnes Caldwell . I know he had a brother in Georgia named George Caldwell this was probably Civil War era . My great-great grandfather came to Texas I believe before the Civil War. My great grandfather moved from east Texas to Oklahoma around 1906 . My dad came back to Texas when He came back from the Korean War in 1952 . My father, Bill is quite knowledgable on family history but would never get on a computer. He would be very happy to talk with you on our history . I almost positive that the anncestor that came to the US also had my dad's name William B. Caldwell and that he came from Ireland but shipped out from Germany.
