We are preparing a "Directory" of all Hanley's in Ireland, especially Roscommon and Sligo, during the period 1653 (Cromwell Confiscations) to 1854 (Griffiths Valuation). It will be incorporated into a lengthier document in progress tracing the Hanley history back to ancient times. You can read about that document on the Message Board at http://www.ballykilcline.com If you have records of Hanleys/Handleys in Ireland prior to 1860 we would appreciate your submitting them to us at phanley@arnoldcom.com or mail to Pete Hanley, Suite 1200, 8300 Greensboro Drive, McLean, Virginia 22102. We would like as much of the following information available: Name, Birthdate, Spouse, Marriage Date, Children/Birthdates, Townland/Parish/County, Date and Destination of Emigration. Thank you for your help. Pete Hanley

Pete Hanley
To: Pete Hanley
I have several indications taken from records in Ontario County,
NY upstate Western NY which lead to family names dating pre 1800.
John Madden b. about 1822, County Mato, Ire., Father Thomas-Mother
Margret Slayne, no info on either except County Mayo. John married
Nancy (Ann) Finan b. about 1824, and married in Old Chelsea, Quebec
09-29-1846. Ann's father, Harry Finan was married to Mary Jennings.
Again no info other than County Mayo, Ire. All names were on the
Marriage record. Also sent to me was a Baptism of their daughter
Catherine Madden, b. Jan 18, 1849 in Old Chelsea. After moving to
Canandaigua, NY near Rochester around 1850 Catherine married John
Hanley, b. about 1835-1842, father William, mother Catherine Heaton,
both from Ireland. John married in Canandaigua NY April 27, 1866.
Any help you may have with these would be appreciated.
One more couple I'm researching with ties to Hanley family are Patrick
Hamilton, b. 1848, Ireland, married Margaret Hasson, b. 1849, Ireland
marriage in County Derry, Parish of Desertmartin by Rev Mooney,
04-22-1867.
