MCGLYNN/CASHIN/MCMANUS

Post by A. Lowe »

This is an update of a previous message:
When my real father died last year I decided to try and trace my "McGlynn" ancestors.
Unfortunately, I haven't much to go on, here is all I know:
My father's name was John (known as Terry) McGlynn, born in Scotland, March 30th 1932.
He had two older brothers that I know of, one of them called James McGlynn (who also died last year).
The third (oldest) brother was called Tommy (Thomas) McGlynn, he apparently spent his entire adult life in
an asylum (in Scotland) after suffering from shell-shock in France during WW2, he died 4-5 years ago.
My grandfather, Terence Patrick McGlynn (whose mother's maiden name was McManus) and my grandmother
(uncertain of her christian name but her maiden name was Cashin) moved from Longford (I think) in Ireland
to Scotland sometime during the nineteen-twenties. A place in Ireland that was also mentioned
that my grandparents could have had links to include Cloone Morris and Bornacoola (can anybody confirm that Cloone Morris
is an actual place name?)
My great-grandfather was called Thomas McGlynn and apparently came from (or lived in) Bornacoola in Leitrim.
This is all I know, but I would be very grateful for any help discovering more about my Irish family or advice about
how to start tracing them myself. Also, any links to Cashin or McManus families would be welcome.
