Healey/Haley from Roscommon, Ireland

Post by Tom Mullen »

My GG Grandfather, Bernard Healey, (some spellings say HALEY) was born in Roscommon, Ireland August 1829. He emigrated to Boston, shortly after his marriage January 23, 1854 in Middlesex, England to Mary A. Hennessey born in Clare, Ireland May 01, 1835. I have no information on parents or siblings of Bernard, and this information about him being from Roscommon was just learned from his Death Certificate (he died in the Civil war)
Any information would be greatly appreciated..
Tom Mullen!

A James Haley married Mary McNally, my gggrandmother's sister, around 1860 or so in Burrillville, RI. I don't know where James was from, but there was a sizable community of Roscommon people there after the mid 1850s and Mary's sister married one of them.
James and Mary later moved to Hampton, CT. They did not have children. She died in 1879 and he remarried sometime later. I do have more info on Haley. If you are interested, e-mail me. By the way, Burrillville and Hampton are not too far from Boston. Good luck.
