Featherstones of Brooklyn, NY, Descendants of Kilglass

Post by Mary Lee Dunn »

I am trying to trace three women, sisters, descended from the sister of my gggrandfather John Riley, born in Kilglass Parish, Roscommon, in 1822. The women's surname was Featherstone and they lived in Brooklyn, NY. Their father, Thomas, was there between the 1940s and '60s and probably as early as 1915. For years, he/they lived at 475 80th St. Thomas worked for the post office. I believe he died in the early 1960s, around age 80. His three daughters were Edith, Delores, and Isabel. Someone suggested to me that they may all have been given the first name Mary. Delores was born about 1917. The others were close to her in age. I have no information about any of the daughters' marriages, and have turned up nothing under Featherstone. Can anyone suggest leads for me? I have tried working through the Catholic churches without much success. Thank you.
Mary Lee Dunn

Records there often list both the husband and the wife with the maiden name. Featherstone is not that common. I live in Albany and would be happy to scour these records for you for a fee. Email me at Corlis@sprynet.com. Also, New York State has very extensive census records. Let me know if I can help.
Corlis
