I only have the English details on my Giblin Ancestors,<br>the farthest I can track them back is the 1871 census as follows,<br>18871 census schedule No. 105 Shorthead road Erdington Warwickshire <br>(Erdington is now a suburb of Birmingham.)<br>Michael Giblin head m 35 ag. Lab born ireland<br>Margaret " wife m 33 "<br>Bridget " dau u 15 "<br>Michael " son u 13 lab " (my ggf )<br>Mary " dau u 9 "<br>Thomas " son u born warwickshire Aston<br>Mark Donnely boarder m 35 "<br>Mary Giblin boarder m 30 <br>All born in Ireland,apparently a lot of immigrants from Ireland settled in Birmingham, "<br>There is no mention of where in Ireland they came from, from the above I would assume that they moved to England between 1863 and 1870. Mary senior may have been the sister of Michael senior.<br>By 1878 Michael junior had moved to Aston Birmingham where he married my ggm.<br>Can any one please advise on how I can track down either the birth cert. Or marriage cert. For Michael Giblin born about 1836 Ireland

(User Above) wrote: : I only have the English details on my Giblin Ancestors,<br>: the farthest I can track them back is the 1871 census <br>: Snip<p>In Matheson Special report on Surnames there were 30 Giblen births in 1890 of which 19 were in Roscommon and 6 in Mayo.<p>On the Griffith's CD there are about 102 Giblin's listed<br>Taking the male names in your family<br>there are 24 Michael's listed 13 in Poscommon, 7 Sligo,3 Mayo and i Dublin.<br>There are 14 Thomas' listed 6 Roscommon, 4 Mayo, 2 Sligo and 2 Leitrim.<br>Most of the Michael's and Thomas' in Roscommon are listed in the Civil parish of Tibohine.<p>Since you know the wife's first name at least and not the parent's names I would start by looking for the marriage record. Do you know the Religion.<br>If it's Church Of Ireland Marriage Indexes start in 1845. If Roman Catholic find the diocese that takes in Tibohine and start looking at the FHS films if available. From the age of the oldest child I would start looking at about 1855 then look at the year before and year after.<br>It's gonna take a lot of looking.<br>Good Luck<br>Gus Ellis<br>
